Flourish represents a synergy between core themes in my practice and phenomena found within the local environment of Newport Waterside Park in Queensland. The form, materials and processes explore notions of tidal movements and the activity and diversity of coral species inhabiting and flourishing in new areas of Moreton Bay, offering a metaphor for the new inhabitants of the Newport area. Made in collaboration with UAP, it was unveiled in 2019.

Fragment is Katrina’s first public art commission brought to fruition in collaboration with UAP based in Brisbane. Installed in 2008, it is located in the forecourt of the Darwin Convention Centre in Darwin’s Waterfront precinct. Fabricated using cast aluminium elements, the piece represents the omnipresent activity and balance between cycles of life referencing coral and marine life in the local area.
The clustering elements in the work were incorporated into the branding for the Darwin Waterfront precinct.

Elemental is located in Beijing, China and continues an exploration into the activity of cycles of life. Made in collaboration with UAP from their Shanghai studio, and installed in 2011, the work offers a pause for the viewer to contemplate the patterns, activity and repetition of cell growth and the microscopic realm, and their place within the natural world.

Luminous Habitat is comprised of 5 totem like forms that create gateway markers to the Smith Street Mall in Darwin’s CBD. The totemic form and clustering elements reference tide lines and the activity of marine life around the Stokes Hill Wharf pylons, linking the Smith Street Mall with the wharf, once the centre of activity and trade in the area. The work was installed in 2011 and made in collaboration with UAP.

Installed as a part of the Azura Apartment building located in Mid Levels, Hong Kong, Flow is a continuation of an exploration into the microscopic realm using scattered elements to represent the activity of cells, life cycles and water flow. The work was installed in 2013 and made in collaboratio with UAP from their Shanghai studio.

Lotus is comprised of 11 spherical works that create a flow and path along the waterside location in Jining, China. The elements represent the cross section of a lotus root. Their arrangement into spheres reflects harmony and balance in nature and the complexity from which beauty arises. Installed in 2012, the work was made in collaboration with UAP from their Shanghai studio.

River is a wall based piece located in the Newstead Unison development in Brisbane. A combination of cast and laser cut elements are placed in a configuration that traces the path the nearby Brisbane River, representing it’s significance in the development of the city and the activity and cycles of life and industry that it has brought. The work was made in collaboration with UAP and was installed 2016.

In early 2019 this pink, corrugated, circular piece was commissioned as part of a clustered wall installation for the new offices of BCG Australia located at 101 Collins Street, Melbourne.
The project was part of a design collaboration for the offices between Bates Smart and Sharrock Design.
Other artists included in the wall piece are Makiko Ryujin, Tantri Mustika, Alterfact and Ella Bendrups.
